We hope you heard that we’ll be participating in Lori Holt’s newest sew along starting this August called Bee Happy! Since we’ll be participating in this sew along that means we’ll be headed to the shop owner’s retreat at the end of June to get all the details and supplies. And since this is my first sewing retreat I thought, you know what I need for my first ever sewing retreat? A cute bag to carry around all my sewing stuff in the for the week. So that’s what I’m doing.
I saw this Basket Tote from She Can Sew and loved it so much and thought it would make the perfect project bag for me.
Here are all my pieces cut out. I’m using this gorgeous pink floral from Folk Song by Anna Maria Horner for Free Spirit as my main print, a bunch of Riley Blake confetti cotton solids for the outer pieces and the lining, as well as a Riley Blake pink stripe for the interior. I finished it off with that aqua from Studio E for my handles and binding.
I didn’t take a picture before I made my handles but I used her suggestion of using this page for the handles and it came out perfect. I was so worried that they would end up different sizes because that always happens to me and then I’d have a funny bag but this tutorial was so great and made 2 perfect bag handles!
Assembly was much harder than it needed to be until I borrowed my mom’s zipper foot. I didn’t have one for my machine and thought I could make do, but I could not and was not liking my bag very much. Then I used her zipper foot and it was like night and day and was not hard at all. So don’t ignore that instruction!
It’s not a perfect bag, and if I had been making it for someone else then I would have worked a littler harder to hide my seams, but it was for me so I didn’t and I still love how it turned out!
I still think this will be perfect for the Riley Blake and Lori Holt retreat in just 2 weeks. Look for me to post updates from there and come see the new sew along from Lori hitting both stores in August!
We’ve been following along with the Fat Quarter Shop for their Patchwork Quilt Along benefiting the Make a Wish foundation. Every month they release a new block to quilt along with them, giving out the blocks for free and asking that you make a donation to Make a Wish for receiving the blocks.
Vicki in the Logan store has been working on her blocks for January-March and are pictured below!
Although not perfect, she feels like she is learning a lot and feeling better about attempting tiny piecing as these blocks should finish at 5 1/2 inches!
So join us to benefit Make a Wish and end up with a beautiful quilt at the end of the year! Blocks come out at the 15th of every month so click the link above to find the block instructions and check back for updates on our progress!
Today we’re showing off this amazing quilt made with the Native Spirit line from Wyndham Fabrics. This huge (90″x102″) cozy quilt was made using the BQ4 pattern from Maple Island Quilts. Take a look at how even this sashing came out and how wonderful this line looks!
This quilt is available for sale at the Logan store, as are all the fabrics in this line. You can also find the whole line of fabric on the website HERE. Any questions about this or any other fabric we carry? Please feel free to call us!
How about a fun way to use that story book panel instead of making it into the soft panel book? Instead make it into a quilt! Check out this story book sea panel from Wilmington Prints that was sashed with a bright orange to make each panel pop and 2 1/2″ blocks to give it that ocean feel. Snuggle up to your favorite book!
This beautiful finished quilt is now on display (and for sale!) at the Logan store. These book panels are located at both stores and on the website here for only $5.35 each for all 12 panels! Let us know what projects or fabric you’d like featured and it could mean a coupon code!
Need a fun, but easy project that those cute littles in your home can play with? How about these cute Barnyard Animal Friends from Moda’s Farm Fun line? These four friends would be the perfect addition to any Easter basket this spring!
All four panels are included in the price with instructions for completing each animal. We have gone through quite a few bolts of these cute critters so grab yours before they’re gone again! Find this set in our Pre-Cuts section of the Shop!
